Trainings

Our association brings together people from all walks of life – from school and university students to working professionals. The aim of our internal training courses is to exchange knowledge and learn from each other. Every member can offer workshops to share knowledge and develop teaching skills. Topics range from insights into the European Youth Parliament, teaching methods, inclusion strategies and editing programmes to fundraising. The content is diverse and ideally linked to our association’s work.

Questions for the Board

International Trainings

As an addition to our physical training programmes, since 2021 we have also been organising digital training courses in English, which are open to all members of the EYP network.

From 26 to 28 March 2021, a training weekend was held on Zoom and Discord for all interested members of the international network. The 60 participants were able to attend two different training courses. The academic training was supervised by Phillip Girvan as head trainer, while the training for future media team members was supervised by Eike Plhak. Amélie Pasmanns was responsible for the supporting programme and communication with the participants as head organiser.

From 25 to 27 March 2022, a training weekend for interested young people from across the international network took place digitally on Zoom and Discord. The 100 participants were able to attend workshops on many different positions at the meetings. The event, which included an extensive supporting programme, was organised by Inessa Dobler and Patrick Hövels. The training materials used can be viewed on the association’s internal Wiki if required.

EYP Academy

The EYP Academy has been an integral part of the association's annual programme for many years. It traditionally takes place on the first weekend in November at the Karl-Theodor-v.-Dalberg-Gymnasium in Aschaffenburg.

The EYP Academy 2019 took place from 2 to 5 November 2019 in beautiful Aschaffenburg. Despite the autumnal weather, around 50 association members attended. They were offered a wide range of workshops, from Green EYP to professional communication skills. Verona Bähr and Lena Tschenscher took on the project management, while Janis Fifka, as head trainer, oversaw the various training modules and was available as a contact person for the trainers.

From 6 to 8 November 2020, the EYP Academy took place entirely digitally for the first time.

Despite the difficult conditions, the two project managers, Mats Radeck and Lorenz Hepke, put together a varied and appealing programme for the participants. At times, more than 50 association members and interested parties from all over Europe were connected!

The workshops on offer ranged from the classics to academic teams and media teams to training in self-management and organisation. The project managers of the upcoming sessions also had the opportunity to provide information about their events and meet with their teams.

From 4 to 6 November 2021, the EJP Academy took place once again in person in Aschaffenburg.

The two project managers, Leon Erdmann and Valentin Leupolt, organised a varied and interesting event, despite the difficult conditions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Around 50 participants were able to take part in numerous workshops on shaping the life of the association and learn new things about a wide range of topics.

The various workshops covered a wide range of topics. Among other things, participants were able to learn about the work of the various teams at EYP meetings, learn new things about stress management, and discuss the Paris Climate Agreement. The project managers for the 2022 meetings had the opportunity to meet with their teams for the first time.

Summer Meeting

The summer meeting traditionally takes place in June, together with our Annual General Meeting in Berlin. During the event, our association members can share their knowledge with other association members in the form of workshops.

The 2026 summer session is expected to take place in June 2026. If you would like to participate, please register in advance. In addition to the long-term strategy and first impressions of our sessions in the coming year, you can look forward to workshops on a variety of topics.

What topics have been covered in previous workshops?

If you are interested in offering a workshop yourself, you may be wondering what topics have been covered in the past. A list of workshop topics from recent years will be posted here shortly. Until then, please be patient and let your creativity run wild!

This workshop focused on learning various techniques for conducting (professional) conversations: How do I deal with personal attacks? How do I give constructive feedback? And what is a good setting for different types of conversations?

This workshop was aimed at those who are completely new to the association. Participants were given an overview of what exactly the European Youth Parliament (EYP) is all about and how they can get involved.

The aim of this workshop was to provide an insight into the preparation, implementation and follow-up of a training course/workshop. In a joint exchange, the important steps in preparing a training course were first discussed and personal training experiences were shared. At the end of the training course, each participant should have gained an understanding of what constitutes a successful training course and how good preparation can promote this success.

This workshop provided an introduction to the technical platforms and tools used by our association, e.g. Google Drive, Gmail and Mattermost. In addition to explanations of the most useful functions, participants had the opportunity to ask any questions they had about the technical side of our work.

This workshop raised the question of how we as an association can use our resources in a more sustainable and environmentally friendly way.

This workshop focused on the beginning of every EYP parliamentary simulation: Teambuilding. The participants had already chaired a committee and now exchanged ideas on various techniques for forming as homogeneous a group as possible from the individual committee members.

In this workshop, a practical case study was used to develop a strategy for dealing with a crisis situation.
